5 Best Jacob Elordi Movies Ranked Ahead of The Dog Stars

Jacob Elordi has quickly made a name for himself in Hollywood as one of the rising stars in the acting world. Following his catapult to superstardom in HBO’s Euphoria, Elordi has starred in a number of high-profile films, and already been nominated for major awards.

Elordi’s latest role is another high-profile one, and sees him star in legendary director Ridley Scott’s latest movie, the sci-fi thriller The Dog Stars. Elordi stars in the movie alongside Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, and more, and promises to be yet another big movie in the actor’s resume.

In celebration of The Dog Stars releasing this week, we’re taking a look at the five best movies Elordi has starred in as of now.

5) On Swift Horses

Elordi got to stretch his historical drama legs in the 2024 movie based on the 2019 novel by Shannon Pufahl. On Swift Horses follows two stories of interconnected queer love, with Elordi playing a casino worker, Julius, who falls in love with his coworker Henry (played by Diego Calva). Elsewhere, Julius’ sister-in-law (Daisy Edgar-Jones) finds herself torn between her husband (Will Poulter) and her neighbor, Sandra (Sasha Calle).

It’s a classic take on the historical love genre, and throws in a mix of forbidden love to really add in some tension. Although it may be one of Elordi’s most underseen movies, On Swift Horses delivers in a ton of areas, and presents a great look at morality, sexuality, and love, with Elordi specifically showcasing a softer side that he often hasn’t in movies.

4) Saltburn

Saltburn is likely known best for its shocking scenes that have gone viral. At its heart, though, is a pretty wild black comedy about a family that gets wrapped up in a wild plot. The movie is director Emerald Fennell’s second directorial feature, and follows the story of University of Oxford student Oliver (Barry Keoghan) who infiltrates the Catton family via the popular student Felix (Elordi).

What follows is an absolutely chaotic spiral, with Keoghan leading the way as the hyper-obsessed Oliver who just wants to be involved in the family’s dynamics. Elordi’s role in the movie is that of the stereotypical rich kid in a family, and he excels at it. He’s also involved in the movie’s most infamous scene, involving him, Keoghan, and a bathtub.

3) Wuthering Heights

Elordi once again reunites with Fennell for this one, a loose adaptation of Emily Brontë’s iconic 1847 novel of the same name. Fennell’s adaptation puts a more romantic spin on things than some fans would have liked, but Elordi still gets to shine in this opposite Margot Robbie. Their portrayal of Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw was filled with longing, obsession, and lust, and they both went all out for it.

While the movie itself may not have lived up to the exact plot details of Brontë’s legendary story, Wuthering Heights still shows off Elordi’s status as a sex symbol and leading man. He completely leans into the lovesick Heathcliff, and portrays the yearning for an unrequited love perfectly.

2) Priscilla

Priscilla, admittedly, is much less about Elordi than it is about Cailee Spaeny’s absolutely incredible performance. The A24 movie follows the life of Priscilla Presley, who meets and falls in love with Elvis Presley at a young age, and their relationship that follows. Elordi takes on the role of Elvis for this one, just shortly after Austin Butler had been nominated for an Oscar for his portrayal of the music legend in a different movie.

Elordi’s take on Elvis is much different than Butler’s, and better off for it. Elordi plays the icon as a much more subdued character, taking the backseat to Priscilla and becoming much more of a human than the more bombastic take on Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s movie. For my money, he looks the part a bit more too, towering over Spaeny’s Priscilla and often appearing as a much more intimidating figure, which plays perfectly with the subject matter of the movie.

1) Frankenstein

The peak of Elordi’s movie career to date saw him completely lose himself in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. The adaptation of the Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel sees Elordi playing the role of “The Creature,” a different on the Frankenstein’s monster that retains most of his human-like nature, albeit in the form of a creature made up of a bunch of corpses.

Completely covered in costume from head to toe, Elordi does an outstanding job here, and was rightfully rewarded for his performance with an Oscar nomination. Not only does he look the part due to his stature and physique, but he also loses himself in the role, portraying Frankenstein’s monster perfectly as a character burdened with life and simply trying to find his place in the world as a result. Outside of roles like Euphoria, there may be no better movie Elordi has starred in as of yet.
