Samara Weaving & Nicholas Braun Battle Killer Wasps in New Thriller Movie

New thriller film starring Samara Weaving and Nicholas Braun sees them face-to-face with a deadly swarm of killer wasps. Directed by Ciarán Foy and distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, the film is currently in production.

Hivemind is an environmental thriller set in a small town that faces a dangerous outbreak of killer wasps. Deadline reported that the movie’s narrative would revolve around the growing threat from the swarm of wasps and how the town locals work together to fight it and stop a global disaster.

Peter Gaffney has written the screenplay for the upcoming thriller. Adding to that, Gaffney is also producing the film alongside Adam Rodin and Brad Luff, per Deadline. Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Diarmaid McGrath for Thunder Roads have also joined in as producers. Scott Strauss for Badlands, Macdara Kelleher and John Keville for Wild Atlantic Pictures are also contributing to the project as producers.

Badlands secured the rights to Hivemind before the script was officially put up for sale. “Hivemind is such a compelling script. I expect our timeline to be similar. I appreciate Peter and his team for recognizing and putting faith in Badlands alternative to studio development,” said Badlands official Scott Strauss.

Hivemind starring Samara Weaving has begun filming in Dublin. Further details about the plot and characters are still under wraps. An official release date for the film has not yet been announced. The film will stream on Prime Video post its release.

Samara Weaving continues to catch the limelight with her upcoming project

Details about Samara Weaving’s character in Hivemind have not yet been revealed. Alongside filming for the environmental thriller, Weaving has also recently been announced as the newest cast member in the MCU’s upcoming X-Men movie.

At D23, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced the cast for the 2028 film. Samara Weaving will play Emma Frost, aka White Queen, who is a powerful telepathic mutant. Jake Schreier will direct the X-Men reboot film.

Weaving also worked in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, which was released on March 20. She plays Grace MacCaullay in the horror comedy which earned a 75% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. She also serves as the titular lead in the 2025 crime romance Carolina Caroline, which has received a 90% rating on the Tomatometer.
