Spider-Man Just Won Marvel’s Game of Thrones Against Avengers

Sony’s webslinger has toppled the previous domestic champion. Spider-Man: Brand New Day now holds a box office record that belonged to Avengers: Endgame for seven years. This comes amid a resurgence of the box office with back-to-back blockbuster hits in 2026, including The Odyssey, Obsession, and more.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day officially beats Avengers: Endgame at domestic box office

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has collected $858.4 million in North America, pushing past Avengers: Endgame and its $858.3 million lifetime domestic total. The film added $3.4 million on its fourth Monday to get the record. Industry trackers now expect the Sony release to hit $900 million domestically, a milestone only Star Wars: The Force Awakens has reached before.

After all, Brand New Day sits just $41.6 million away from the $900 million mark. With strong weekday holds and a fifth weekend projection of $18 million, the path forward looks clear. The film continues to lead the domestic box office, and no new release appears capable of knocking it from the top spot.

Even tho, this weekend brings several newcomers. Ketchup Entertainment will release Coyote Vs. Acme, a Warner Bros. project the studio abandoned. Early tracking suggests a $15 million opening, though advance ticket sales may overstate interest outside major markets.

Sony’s Insidious: Out of the Further should drop around 60 percent to roughly $10 million. Ridley Scott’s Dog Stars from 20th Century Studios and Roadside Attractions’ Buddy round out the slate. None pose a serious challenge (via Deadline).

However, Disney will re-release Avengers: Endgame as an expanded Encore edition on September 25. The Russo Brothers’ film originally collected $2.79 billion worldwide. Whether the encore version can reclaim the domestic crown remains uncertain. Brand New Day still has weeks of theatrical runway left.

The victory, however, applies only to North America. Globally, Endgame maintains a commanding lead. Brand New Day could still finish as the third-highest-grossing film worldwide, passing Avatar: The Way of Water. But catching Endgame’s global total remains unlikely.

For now, Spider-Man: Brand New Day holds the domestic throne. Marvel’s biggest franchises have traded blows for years, but this round belongs to Peter Parker.
