James Bond: Surprising Oscar Nominee Really Wants to Be 007’s Next Big Villain

A surprising Oscar nominee has recently expressed her intention to play a Bond villain. The actor also clarified that she was ‘dead serious’ about the role.

In a recent interaction with Empire, Saoirse Ronan said, “I want to go dark. I said that I wanted to be a Bond villain, and I’m dead serious.” This was quite an interesting statement from the four-time Academy Award nominee. Elaborating on her interest further, the actor stated that she finds the concept of a young female villain very intriguing.

Ronan also added, “Especially for girls and women, to see someone who can just take all that pent-up anger and direct it somewhere, there’s something interesting in that dramatically. So I would love to do more of that.” Interestingly, the American-Irish actress recently had her wish fulfilled about portraying a dark character.

How Bad Apples lets Ronan go dark

Ronan, in her latest release, Bad Apples, has donned a dark avatar. She played the role of Maria, who is responsible for maintaining decorum in her class. However, when one of her pupils threatens to disobey her and causes chaos, Maria devises multiple ways to hold the pupil captive. Reflecting on her role, the actor wholeheartedly praised the script, citing that the writing was “clever.”

She also felt that because of the smooth writing, the story has transcended the traditional narrative of black and white. Ronan stated, “I don’t know what I would do in that situation, but I certainly don’t feel like Maria is an out-and-out psychopath. I think she’s the nicest villain you could play.”
