Snoop Dogg Movie Finds Its Dr. Dre Actor in Beloved Marvel Star
The upcoming Snoop Dogg movie has found its Dr. Dre. The actor’s name adds a familiar face to the film’s cast, as the role of the rapper and producer will be taken up by a beloved Marvel actor.
The biopic on the life of rapper Snoop Dogg, titled Snoop, is expected to hit screens on August 6, 2027. Jonathan Daviss will play Snoop Dogg. According to The Hollywood Reporter, alongside Davis, Myles Bullock Be will be appearing as Dr. Dre in the Universal Pictures biopic.
Bullock has previously portrayed Anthony Wall, aka AWOL, in the MCU television series Runaways from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. The three-season series tracked the life of three teenagers who came together to fight their evil parents. AWOL, played by Bullock Be in the series, is a corrupt police officer who works for Pride, aka the evil parents. The superhero teen drama is currently streaming on Hulu.

Snoop Dogg has a strong bond with Dr. Dre, who was a member of the rap group R.W.A. Dogg featured in Dre’s album The Chronic, released in 1992. Following that, Snoop Dogg released his first album, Doggystyle, produced by Dre in 1993.

Universal had previously reserved a release date for Snoop, per Deadline. Universal has previously taken up other musical biopics and has been very successful. The biopic on Michael Jackson was released on April 24, 2026. Universal handled the international distribution for the film. The movie has now crossed $1 billion worldwide and has accumulated $1,021,426,595, per The Numbers. Alongside that, the film 8 Mile, which is loosely based on the life of Eminem, too, was a Universal project.
The biopic on Snoop Dogg will be directed by Craig Brewer. Brewer is also the writer for the film and has worked alongside scriptwriter Joe Robert Cole. Snoop Dogg himself will be producing the film alongside Brian Grazer, Allan Mandelbaum and Sara Ramaker. Jeb Brody and Ryan Jones are joining the crew as executive producers for the biopic.
