James Bond: New 007 Actor May Have Been Revealed By a Surprising Source

The hunt for the next James Bond may finally be over, says an unexpected insider. Popular television presenter Richard Osman has shared new information about one of the contenders for the role of 007.

In the latest episode of his The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, Osman discussed the highly anticipated casting of the next James Bond. “Someone told me for definite who the new Bond is the other day, but I mean that’s happened before,” the presenter shared.

Osman then revealed, “The name I’ve heard is Jack Lowden.” However, the presenter clarified that Lowden’s casting has not been officially confirmed. “It is definitely not a ‘he’s definitely got it’ thing,” the Englishman said, adding, “He is definitely being strongly considered. I think he’d be amazing.”

The Scottish actor is best known for playing MI5 agent River Cartwright in Apple TV’s hit show Slow Horses. Later this year, Lowden will appear as Mr. Darcy in Netflix’s upcoming Pride & Prejudice adaptation. Other notable titles in his filmography include Dunkirk, Mary Queen of Scots, and Ella McCay, and more.

Osman added that Lowden is at “a good age” to play 007. The Englishman added, “I think Jack Lowden would be an incredible Bond. He’s got real Daniel Craig energy.”

Who else is rumored to be playing 007 in the new James Bond movie?

While Jack Lowden’s potential 007 casting has gained attention following Osman’s recent comments, several other prominent names continue to come up in the conversation.

During the podcast, Osman and Marina Hyde also discussed Henry Cavill and Tom Hardy as popular fan choices for James Bond. Jacob Elordi and Callum Turner have also been mentioned as potential candidates in recent months.

Casting director Nina Gold is reportedly overseeing the search for Daniel Craig’s successor in the James Bond franchise. She has previously worked on Slow Horses starring Lowden and Gary Oldman. Meanwhile, the filmmaker behind the Dune films, Denis Villeneuve, is reportedly directing the next James Bond movie.
