Watch Brad Pitt Improv & Bond With Adorable Dog Uber in New Heart of the Beast Video

A new behind-the-scenes peek at Heart of the Beast highlights the chemistry between Brad Pitt and his dog co-star. The upcoming thriller from David Ayer will follow Pitt’s character fighting for survival in the Alaskan wilderness with a combat dog.

While the previous trailers have shown Pitt with the dog on screen, the new video shows the challenges of working with a German shepherd on a film set. The dog that Pitt is working with is named Uber, who plays Odin in the film. Reflecting on the journey to make the film, Pitt says, “Odin is the star of the film.”

One segment of the video shows Pitt playfully trying to get Uber to follow his directions on camera. “It’s really beautiful in the film – how they work together and depend on each other,” he added. “He’s the most important piece to this story, and it’s been a surprising and special experience.”

In the film, both Pitt’s character, Special Forces officer James Belmont, and Odin are suffering from PTSD. As shown in the trailers, Belmont saved Odin’s life by killing an enemy who maimed the dog. This strengthens the bond between the two, which serves as the heart of the film’s survival story.

Besides Pitt, Heart of the Beast stars J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe in supporting roles. Ayer directs from a screenplay written by Cameron Alexander. It is Ayer’s only film in 2026, following last year’s A Working Man, and previous films like The Beekeeper, The Tax Collector, and Bright. Pitt will be seen next in The Adventures of Cliff Booth, reprising the titular role from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
