Digger: New Tom Cruise Movie May Have a Longer Runtime Than Most MCU Movies
Tom Cruise‘s Digger could turn out to be one of the longest films of his career. Although Warner Bros. has not announced an official runtime for the upcoming movie, a fresh online listing suggests that it may be his third-longest film.
According to Film Crave, Digger is currently expected to have “a final runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes.” However, the listed runtime could change before the film’s release. If the listing proves accurate, Digger would run longer than most MCU films, including Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which clocks in at around two and a half hours. However, it will still be behind Cruise’s Magnolia (3 hours and 8 minutes) and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2 hours and 50 minutes).

Apart from Tom Cruise, the film also stars Riz Ahmed, Sandra Hüller, Jesse Plemons, John Goodman, Michael Stuhlbarg, Sophie Wilde, Emma D’Arcy, Robert John Burke, and Burn Gorman.
Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu directs the film. This dark comedy is his first English-speaking feature film since The Revenant. The film follows Digger Rockwell, one of the wealthiest and most powerful men in the world, who tries to prove to everyone that he can prevent a global catastrophe that he helped create.
The screenplay has been written by Iñárritu, Sabina Berman, Alexander Dinelaris, and Nicolás Giacobone. Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki serves behind the camera.
The film has also drawn attention for Tom Cruise’s dramatic physical transformation. Early footage suggests that the American star plays the character by appearing under heavy prosthetics.
Digger arrives in U.S. theaters on October 2, 2026. VistaVision, it is Tom Cruise’s first-ever collaboration with Iñárritu. He was last seen in the action-spy film Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, which was released in May 2025.
