Billie Eilish Is Completely Unrecognizable in Set Photos for Oscar Winner’s New Movie
Billie Eilish has undergone a drastic transformation for her new movie. Featuring in Oscar-winning Sarah Polley’s latest movie, the popular singer has stepped into a new role.
The American singer-songwriter is currently shooting for Polley’s new movie, The Bell Jar, adapted from Sylvia Plath’s novel of the same name. Shooting in Toronto, pictures from the set recently emerged, creating quite a buzz among fans. Playing the lead role of Esther Greenwood, the singer looked almost unrecognizable.
The most evident change is how the star has lost weight for the movie. In the leaked set photos, the 24-year-old can be seen wearing a red round-neck top. She paired it with a red checkered skirt. Interestingly, this will be her first attempt at a proper dramatic acting venture. Earlier, Eilish featured in a 2023 Amazon series named Swarm.
What else do we know about Sarah Polley’s new movie with Billie Eilish?
Produced by Focus Features, the movie explores the story of Greenwood, a gloomy young woman. Plath’s novel, initially released in 1963, portrays Greenwood as a woman with a bright future. However, trying to cope with immense stress, expectations from society, and constant pressure to succeed, Greenwood found herself succumbing to depression. This sense of feeling trapped is captured by the author through the metaphor of The Bell Jar.
There is one more dark story associated with the movie. Only a month after the book was released, Plath committed suicide at the age of 30. While the novel was initially released under Plath’s pen name, Victoria Lucas, it was published again three years later, this time under the deceased author’s original name.
Alongside Eilish, Connor Storrie and Carey Mulligan are also speculated to be part of the movie. While Mulligan is rumored to play Mrs. Greenwood, Storrie is said to be portraying Buddy Willard. Sarah Polley’s The Bell Jar is aiming for a 2027 release.
