Jennifer Lopez’s R-rated crime thriller Bordertown is approaching the end of its run on Netflix. The 2007 film, inspired by real-life events, will soon be removed from the streaming service, leaving subscribers with only a limited window to watch it. Directed by Gregory Nava, the crime drama stars Lopez as a journalist investigating a string of murders near the U.S.-Mexico border.

Bordertown exits Netflix this August

Jennifer Lopez’s R-rated true-crime drama Bordertown is set to leave Netflix later this month. According to What’s on Netflix, the film will be removed from the platform on August 22, 2026.

Released in 2007, Bordertown was written and directed by Gregory Nava. The film draws inspiration from the real-life killings of women in Ciudad Juárez, a series of crimes that received international attention over several years.

Chicago journalist Lauren Adrian is assigned to investigate the long-running murders of female factory workers in the Mexican border city of Juárez, a case that has claimed hundreds of victims over the years.

While reporting on the killings, she reconnects with former colleague and one-time lover Alfonso Diaz, who has continued exposing the crimes despite threats from local authorities. As the two pursue the truth together, Lauren builds the trust of local factory workers and gradually becomes entangled in the dangers surrounding the investigation.

Jennifer Lopez portrays Lauren Adrian, with Antonio Banderas appearing as Alfonso Diaz and Maya Zapata as Eva Jimenez. The film’s cast also features Sônia Braga as Teresa Casillas, Teresa Ruiz as Cecila Rojas, Juan Diego Botto as Marco Antonio Salamanca, among others.

Audience response to the film was favorable. On Rotten Tomatoes, Bordertown currently holds a 63 percent audience score, though there is currently no score from the listed reviews from critics. According to Box Office Mojo, Bordertown finished its theatrical run with around $8.3 million in worldwide earnings against an estimated $21 million budget.
