Spider-Man: Brand New Day Fans Clash Over Controversial MCU Post-Credits Scene
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is finally out in theaters, and it didn’t take long for its solo post-credits scene to divide MCU fans. Unlike Marvel’s other projects, which include mid-credits and post-credits scenes, Spider-Man 4 saves everything for one scene at the very end.
According to online reactions, Brand New Day takes a different approach from other MCU outings, which often end with major reveals or introduce new characters. The decision has sparked an online debate, with some fans saying the post-credits scene isn’t worth waiting for, while others believe it sets a logical future for Spider-Man.
From his early screening review, scooper Daniel Rithcman posted, “Do NOT stay until after the credits for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It’s not worth it.” One fan, @MasterTainment, replied, “I highly disagree with this take. Stay.”
Saying the movie provides a logical ending, @bene_cz75 posted in French, which translates to, “The post-credits scene got me so hyped out of my mind, some people didn’t get it, but damn, it’s totally logical though.” Replying to this post, @onestpaslagros said, “The post-credit scene is the SpiderTracker app that shows Spider-Man is in space and that he’s coming back, so there you go, that way you don’t waste your time.”
What the Spider-Man: Brand New Day post-credits scene means for the MCU
The film’s post-credit scene features the Spidey Tracker created by Ned detecting another Spider-Man from space before ending with the message, “Spider-Man will return.” While the small tease is much smaller than what many Marvel fans have expected, it hints at Spider-Man’s next adventure taking place far beyond New York.
Many have started to wonder if a different version of Spider-Man could be set up for Avengers: Doomsday. Fans are comparing it to the Thunderbolts credits scene, which set up Avengers: Doomsday while teasing the arrival of the Fantastic Four.
What lies ahead for Spider-Man in the MCU remains a mystery. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently playing in theaters.
