Star Wars: Daisy Ridley’s Rey Movie Could Introduce Massive Lore Change to Film Franchise

Daisy Ridley‘s new Star Wars movie could bring an unexpected change to the franchise lore. The acclaimed actress was last seen in the series as Rey during 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.

A newly published book, Star Wars: Legacy, hints at a major change that may be introduced in Ridley’s next appearance as Rey in a new Star Wars: New Jedi Order movie. The book is set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker and focuses on Rey building a New Jedi Order, according to The HoloFiles. What’s interesting is that she does it in a manner completely different from the long-established lore.

According to an excerpt from the book, Rey makes a surprising statement about starting her New Jedi Order. She says, “Jedi were taught to let go of all attachments, but everyone needs something to fight for, and more than just ideas, people.”

Compared to past Star Wars movie lore, this statement differs vastly as it contradicts a key tenet of the Jedi Order during the prequel trilogy. This tenet played a key role in Anakin Skywalker’s fall to the dark side.

Why is Rey’s vision for the Jedi Order different?

Rey’s statement in Star Wars: Legacy suggests that she may introduce a New Jedi Order. One where the Jedi will be allowed to get into relationships with each other, which is the opposite of what the Jedi Order has been in the past.

However, it’s just early speculation based on the book, and one can’t say if Daisy Ridley’s Star Wars movie will actually execute this idea.

Speaking more of the new Star Wars movie, it made headlines back in 2023 when the English actress was announced as its leading face. It also meant that she would reprise her role of Rey from the previous trilogy of her Star Wars films. This time, however, the Star Wars sequel trilogy star will appear as the Jedi Master.

Star Wars: New Jedi Order movie will take place 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. Lucasfilm and Disney haven’t shared any significant updates on the project for a long time now.
