‘Worst Thing I’ve Lived Through: Children of Blood and Bone Author Disowns Viola Davis Movie
Children of Blood and Bone author has made a shocking statement about the film adaptation. Author Tomi Adeyemi is a co-writer of the upcoming Paramount movie starring Viola Davis.
In a clip posted on social media this Wednesday, Adeyemi described the movie as “the worst thing I have ever had to live through.” She also added, “I never want to hear about this project again.” Describing her experience working on the movie, Adeyemi pointed out how she was “hyperventilating and sobbing” while coming off the set. Additionally, the 32-year-old writer also alleged of being continuously “antagonized behind the scenes.”
In the clip, the American writer detailed how she had severe somatic pain coupled with recurring panic attacks. While she did her best to make the movie better, Adeyemi continued, “I knew it was so bad that I would never ever be able to watch this film, and I made peace with that.” Concluding her video, the author explained that she felt the truth needed to come out and that her social media post was an attempt to share it with the public.

Earlier in July, Adeyemi posted on social media about her reluctance to watch her novel’s film adaptation. She also wanted to refrain from taking part in any promotional events during this time. Taking to TikTok, the 32-year-old attempted to clear fans’ doubts about why she was no longer sharing any social media content about the Children of Blood and Bone movie.
As the clip rolled on, several messages from the author were displayed. One such message read, “There is a reason I will not post anything about the adaptation of my work. That’s all. From this point on, if you want to support me, you can purchase any edition of the trilogy at a local independent children’s bookstore.” More such messages clearly reflected Adeyemi’s unwillingness to be associated with the film.
Children of Blood and Bone is scheduled to premiere on January 15, 2027.
