Tom Holland’s Cryptic MCU Comment Just Made Spider-Man 5 More Uncertain

Tom Holland has made a cryptic statement reflecting on his future as Spider-Man. Holland debuted as the new friendly neighborhood superhero back in Civil War. But it looks like he might not be too eager for Spider-Man 5.

Holland and Zendaya recently appeared on the HugoDécrypte – Grands formats YouTube channel. While discussing a host of topics, the 30-year-old actor was asked whether he would like to reprise his superhero role for a fifth Spider-Man film.

The answer would not please the fans. Without giving a definitive answer, Holland replied, “Pass.” Such a statement casts doubts on the future of the Spider-Man franchise. There are also rumors that the MCU will be rebooted after Avengers: Secret Wars. Thus, it is not known at the moment if the swinging web-shooter will still be a part of the rebooted MCU.

What’s next for Tom Holland after Spider-Man: Brand New Day?

Tom Holland will be pleased with the initial reception of Brand New Day. Following its premiere, the latest edition of the Spider-Man franchise has garnered a lot of praise from the critics. However, the 30-year-old will be moving on from the superhero franchise as he will be busy working on an upcoming Fred Astaire biopic.

Marvel fans would expect Holland to appear in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The character of Spider-Man played a pivotal role in the last two Avengers movies when the Earth’s mightiest heroes battled the mad Titan Thanos. But at the moment, there is no confirmation about the Spider-Man actor being present in either of the Avengers movies. The latest Avengers: Doomsday trailer also does not show the web-slinger in action.

Just before Brand New Day, the 30-year-old worked with director Christopher Nolan in The Odyssey. Playing the role of Odysseus’ (Matt Damon) son, Telemachus, Holland’s work with his on-screen mother, Penelope (Anne Hathaway), had the critics mightily impressed.
