Spider-Man 4 Reviews Agree This Part of Brand New Day Will Massively Disappoint MCU Fans

However, one important part of the movie is drawing an unexpected wave of criticism. While Marvel films are notorious for offering fans cliffhangers after the credits roll, Brand New Day seems to fall short. Early reactions from critics suggest the film’s only post-credit scene is underwhelming and perhaps not worth waiting for.
The movie features a single post-credits scene which only arrives after the full credits rather than during the mid-credits. Some also claim that the scene doesn’t tease a future MCU film or deliver a major surprise. That said, it’s only a drawback given Marvel’s strong history of post-credit scenes.

According to film critic Peter Howell, Spider-Man: Brand New Day steps back from the multiversal chaos and returns to its roots as the grounded, street-level adventure that longtime fans know. He also praised Tom Holland’s portrayal of Peter Parker/Spider-Man that Stan Lee had in mind when creation. However, he pointed out the ending stinger is the film’s weakest moment, writing that the movie’s “only misstep is the bloated 145-minute running time, which includes a pointless post-credits scene.”
Entertainment Insider Daniel Richtman shared a similar opinion before the movie’s release. He said, “Do NOT stay until after the credits for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It’s not worth it.” After some questioned his comments, he replied, “People tend to get angry at anything negative, but I’m not saying the movie itself is bad. There’s only one post-credits scene, and it comes after all the credits. In my personal opinion, it’s just not worth waiting for, but to each their own.”
One user on X, @ChainLate joked, “Almost every review seems to agree on two things: Tom Holland delivers, and the post-credit scene doesn’t.”
Despite the criticism surrounding the ending, the overall response to Spider-Man: Brand New Day remains overwhelmingly positive. As of writing, the movie holds an 89% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 107 reviews.
ComingSoon’s own Jonathan Sim praised the film, calling it a movie that “works very well” and one that fans “won’t want to miss,” with high marks going to Holland, Zendaya, and the film’s action sequences.
