27 Dresses is leaving Netflix next month
Netflix subscribers have until next month to watch Katherine Heigl and James Marsden’s beloved rom-com 27 Dresses. According to What’s on Netflix, the film will leave the platform on August 1, 2026.
Originally, Anne Fletcher directed and Aline Brosh McKenna wrote 27 Dresses, which hit U.S. theaters on January 18, 2008. The romantic comedy follows Jane Nichols, a woman who has spent years serving as a bridesmaid at 27 weddings while secretly being in love with her boss, George.
However, her world turns upside down when her younger sister, Tess, begins a relationship with George, leaving Jane to watch the man she loves slip away. Meanwhile, she meets journalist Kevin Doyle, who sees her remarkable bridesmaid history as the perfect story to revive his career. As the situation grows increasingly complicated, Jane finds herself confronting difficult truths about her own life and the sacrifices she has made for others.
In terms of cast, Heigl and Marsden lead as Jane Nichols and Kevin “Malcolm” Doyle respectively. Additionally, Malin Åkerman, Judy Greer, Melora Hardin, Brian Kerwin, and Edward Burns also star as Tess Nichols, Casey, Maureen, Hal Nichols, and George among others.
Critics gave the film a mixed response following its release. On Rotten Tomatoes, 27 Dresses holds a 40 percent critics’ score based on 154 reviews, while its audience score stands at 57 percent.
Nevertheless, the film performed well commercially. According to Box Office Mojo, it earned more than $162 million worldwide against a $30 million budget. This includes over $76 million from domestic theaters and more than $85 million internationally.
