ACE Entertainment and AZ Filmz have wrapped the film’s principal photography. The Mystery of the Golden Spear is set in 1930s South Africa and was shot across Johannesburg and surrounding South African locations. Barton will reprise the role of Detective Miranda Green from the first two films. The production used authentic wildlife reserves, private game lodges, and period locations to bring the film’s setting to life.

The film’s synopsis reads, “Set against the backdrop of 1930s South Africa, The Mystery Of The Golden Spear follows Miranda Green as she becomes entangled in a dangerous web of murder, buried secrets, colonial intrigue, and a legendary artifact tied to a series of brutal killings deep within the African savanna.”

“The Mystery Of The Golden Spear represents an exciting evolution of the Miranda Green franchise,” said Zeus Zamani, producer. “South Africa provides an extraordinary cinematic backdrop unlike anywhere else in the world, and our collaboration with Artlist Studio allows us to expand the scale and visual ambition of the film while remaining grounded in authentic locations, practical filmmaking, and strong storytelling.”

The filmmakers have also partnered with Artlist.io through its Artlist Studio platform, a production suite that includes generative AI tools for creating characters, building virtual sets, designing shots, and more. The production will combine its practical South African photography with Artlist’s tools to enhance the film’s VFX sequences and environment extensions.

Besides Barton, the film’s ensemble cast includes Josh Burdett, Don Worley, Deoudoné Pretorius, Mark Hawkins, and Zetske van Pletzen. The film is produced by Zamani and Brian Vilim. Jérôme Reygner-Kalfon, Sébastien Semon, and Don Worley serve as executive producers.

“We are delighted to continue our longstanding collaboration with Zeus Zamani, whose creative vision and producing expertise have been instrumental to the growth of the Miranda Green Mystery franchise from the very beginning,” said Jérôme Reygner-Kalfon and Sébastien Semon. “The Mystery Of The Golden Spear represents an exciting evolution of the series, and we look forward to bringing this ambitious new chapter to audiences around the world.”

The Mystery of the Golden Spear currently doesn’t have a release date.
