Enola Holmes 3’s Rotten Tomatoes Critic & Audience Scores Set Unwanted Record
The overall consensus among critics regarding Enola Holmes 3 seems to be positive. However, the threequel has failed to match the critical success of its two predecessors, according to its Rotten Tomatoes score. The movie’s score on the review-aggregation website has created an unexpected and undesirable record for the Netflix franchise.
Enola Holmes’ Rotten Tomatoes record takes a hit with Part 3’s audience and critic scores
Despite many favorable reviews, Enola Holmes 3 has not matched up to the scores its predecessors received from audiences and critics on Rotten Tomatoes. As such, the crime mystery film has received the worst Rotten Tomatoes rating of the franchise.
At the time of writing, Enola Holmes 3’s Tomatometer and Popcornmeter readings both stand at 70%. While solid scores, this is the first time that an Enola Holmes movie has not secured a “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The 2020 original received a 91% score from critics, while its 2022 sequel improved on that rating and earned a 93% rating on the Tomatometer. Similarly, Enola Holmes and its first sequel’s audience scores on the website are currently 71% and 79%, respectively.
In a review of Enola Holmes 3, Geek Vibes Nation‘s M.N. Miller noted that the movie “remains charming, clever, and darker than before, with Millie Bobby Brown anchoring a stylish mystery that shows franchise fatigue.”
Collider‘s David Caballero shared a similar sentiment for the threequel, adding, “If Enola returns for a fourth movie, then the writers should first and foremost make sure the mystery is interesting enough to hold our attention.”
Meanwhile, Pop Culture Leftovers‘ Connor Petrey stated, “While not quite generating the magically fluent energy of the original two films, this third entry is still a fun adventure that lacks a bit of the Holmes charm and instead makes the mystery a front for a treasure hunt.”
Having premiered on July 1, Enola Holmes 3 is now available for subscribers to stream on Netflix.
