Spider-Man: Why Sadie Sink Didn’t Even Have to Audition for Brand New Day MCU Role
Former Stranger Things star Sadie Sink didn’t audition for her role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. She’ll be seen in the upcoming MCU movie alongside Tom Holland and Zendaya.
Why didn’t Sadie Sink have to audition for her Spider-Man: Brand New Day role?
Sadie Sink will make her debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While there’s a lot of curiosity among fans regarding her role, its details are still kept under wraps.
During her interaction with Nylon, the key detail of her not needing to audition for her role was shared alongside an obvious reason. Sink already knew Brand New Day’s director, Destin Daniel Cretton, having worked with him on the 2017 movie The Glass Castle. The drama also featured Brie Larson, Woody Harrelson, and Naomi Watts, among others.
In the same interview, it was also revealed that Sink didn’t receive a script for Brand New Day until she arrived in London for the shooting. It may have been due to the secrecy of her role.
While Marvel hasn’t confirmed her character’s name or other details, various rumors claim she might be playing Jean Grey. The X-Men character is known for her telepathic, telekinetic, and energy manipulation abilities in Marvel comics.

However, all speculations and rumors should be taken with a grain of salt until an official update. Besides Sink, Holland, and Zendaya, Brand New Day also features Jacob Batalon as Ned. Mark Ruffalo will also appear in his iconic role of Bruce Banner or Hulk. Jon Bernthal will be seen teaming up with Holland’s Peter Parker, reprising his popular role of Frank Castle or The Punisher.
The remaining cast also includes Michael Mando, Liza Colón-Zayas, and Marvin ‘Krondon’ Jones III in key roles.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day releases in theaters on July 31, 2026.
