The upcoming film, with its setting, returns to the franchise’s roots. It’s directed by Sébastien Vaniček, who helmed 2023’s critically acclaimed Infested.
Bill Bria of Discussing Film wondered if the installment might just be “the most brutal film in the series”, noting that Vaniček has brought “a New French Extremity edge to the Deadites”.
Film critic Simon Thompson called the film “seriously nasty and pretty f—-d up.” Thompson also revealed that the film contains a post-credits scene that fans “won’t want to miss”.
Perri Nemiroff from Collider called it “fantastic”, praising the director as “an absolute ace”. She praises the cast, noting every single member “soars tackling the demands that come with going to the extreme for an Evil Dead scare scene.”
The film focuses on a single family in a remote location before Deadites possess the members. As is usual for the franchise, the horror originates from the Necronomicon. Like Evil Dead Rise before it, the film has been marketed to appeal to new viewers just as well as original fans.

Evil Dead Burn is directed by Sébastien Vaniček from a screenplay co-written by him and Florent Bernard. It stars Souheila Yacoub, Tandi Wright, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, Errol Shand, George Pullar, Maude Davey, and Greta Van Den Brink. It’s produced by Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi. Romel Adam, Bruce Campbell, Lee Cronin, and Jose Canas serve as executive producers.
