Brad Pitt Wins Key Court Ruling in Legal Battle With Angelina Jolie
Brad Pitt scored a crucial victory in his legal battle with ex-wife Angelina Jolie. Back in 2023, Pitt had sued Jolie over a 2021 sale she made without informing him.
What court ruling did Brad Pitt win in his legal battle with Angelina Jolie?
Brad Pitt has been granted a motion by the Supreme Court of California in his legal battle with Angelina Jolie over a former French estate, Château Miraval. They owned the winery together before splitting up. The new motion forces members of the Stoli Group, new owners of the French winery, to comply, reports People.
Pitt previously argued that the investors from the spirits and wine giant were already aware of Jolie’s sale of the French winery in 2021.
The F1 star had filed court documents to depose the Stoli Group’s Alexey Oliynik in June 2025. Oliyink reportedly refused to turn over the necessary documents or appear for deposition. His point was that he couldn’t be forced to do so as a Swedish resident.

The legal battle over the winery began when Jolie sold her share in Château Miraval, which she and Pitt had co-owned during their relationship. The sale violated a prior agreement between them stating that neither party could sell without the other’s approval. Pitt later contested the sale, arguing that Jolie was retaliating against him after their split. While filing the suit against Jolie four years ago, he called the sale “vindictive.”
Last year, Pitt had alleged that Oliynik played a key role in the sale rather than just being involved. And that he was guided by Stoli Group’s owner, Yuri Shefler, a Russian expatriate billionaire. Pitt’s motion had described Oliynik as a “key operative” and a major witness in the entire transaction.
