Zoe Saldaña’s $1.4B Non-MCU Hit Has Already Taken Over Streaming
Zoe Saldaña‘s latest blockbuster has wasted no time climbing the streaming charts. The sci-fi sequel is already dominating Disney+ in the United States after its digital debut. After towering theaters worldwide, the film has now found an audience at home as well. Its early streaming performance means fans are still returning to Pandora before the franchise’s next chapter arrives.
Avatar: Fire and Ash has begun to dominate streaming on Disney+
According to FlixPatrol‘s Disney+ Top 10 rankings in the United States, Avatar: Fire and Ash has climbed to the No. 1 spot on the platform. It currently sits ahead of Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3, and Toy Story 4. Directed by James Cameron, Avatar: Fire and Ash is the third installment in the blockbuster franchise distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
The story returns to Pandora as Jake Sully and Neytiri face a dangerous new Na’vi clan known as the Ash People, pushing their family into another emotional and high-stakes conflict. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña reprise their lead roles alongside Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Britain Dalton, Jack Champion, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Oona Chaplin, and David Thewlis.
The film debuted in theaters on December 19 last year and quickly became another global box office giant. It earned more than $1.4 billion worldwide, extending Avatar’s remarkable theatrical success. Although made on a massive production budget estimated at around $400 million, the movie comfortably turned a profit thanks to strong international business and repeat viewings.
Fans had no trouble diving back into Pandora. The sequel won over audiences with its jaw-dropping CGI, heartfelt family moments, and the way Cameron expanded the world by introducing new tribes beyond what fans had seen in the earlier two films. The stunning action and next-level visual effects earned plenty of praise, while the deeper look at Pandora kept longtime fans interested in the installment.
Its IMDb score is currently 7.2/10. Meanwhile, Rotten Tomatoes shows a 66% critics’ score and a 90% audience score.
