24 Jump Street Cast: Which Stars are Confirmed & Could Return for New Movie
Recently, it was announced that Sony Pictures has finally started development on 24 Jump Street. This serves as the long-awaited third installment of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum‘s popular action comedy franchise, which had been through different development phases.
Confirmed 24 Jump Street cast
Sony Pictures is currently in negotiations with 21 Jump Street stars Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube to reprise their respective roles as Morton Schmidt, Greg Jenko, and Captain Dickson. So far, they’re the only returning cast members confirmed for the project. The films featured Hill and Tatum as best friends and police partners who were enlisted in undercover drug operation assignments.
In the 2012 movie, they needed to return to high school and pretend they were teenagers to find the one responsible for the drug outbreak. Meanwhile, in the 2014 sequel, they were tapped to go undercover as college students to solve another lethal drug outbreak. As for Ice Cube, his character served as Schmidt and Jenko’s aggressively foul-mouthed captain, who handled the undercover Jump Street program.
Unconfirmed 24 Jump Street cast who could return
At the moment, further details about the 24 Jump Street movie are still under wraps, including which supporting cast members from the franchise would also be returning. Dave Franco, Rob Riggle, and Nick Offerman are most likely the ones who could return in the upcoming movie, given their consistent presence in the franchise. Franco’s Eric Molson was introduced in 21 Jump Street as a popular student who also moonlights as a drug dealer for Riggle’s Coach Walters. They also returned in 22 Jump Street for a hilarious cameo appearance, revealing the unexpected situation they’re in. Meanwhile, Offerman played Deputy Chief Hardy, the one who reassigned Schmidt and Jenko to the undercover Jump Street program. There’s also a chance that the studio may bring back Amber Stevens’ character Maya Dickson from the 2014 sequel due to her connection to Hill and Ice Cube’s characters.
Another potential character return that might happen in 24 Jump Street is Academy Award winner Brie Larson, possibly reprising her role as Molly from the first installment. This could be a cool cameo opportunity, or the creative team may also find a way to bring her character back into Schmidt and Jenko’s story. After starring in the 2012 film, Larson went on to become an award-winning star known for her acclaimed performance in 2015’s Room, which eventually led her to nabbing iconic roles in blockbuster movies like Kong: Skull Island and Captain Marvel.
