After the kids discover a magical tree hidden near their home, they are welcomed by its extraordinary residents. The children get swept into the spectacular, fantastical lands beyond their wildest imagination. With every new adventure, the family discovers the magic that helps them reconnect with the one thing that matters the most: each other.

Based on Blyton’s books, The Magic Faraway Tree was initially released in the UK earlier this year. It performed really well, grossing $30 million in the region.

After the movie attracted positive word-of-mouth and became a box-office hit, its producers announced plans for a franchise. Pippa Harris and Danny Perkins revealed that they are considering two more films to make a trilogy of movies based on Blyton’s book series.

The Magic Faraway Tree also features Nicola Coughlan (Bridgerton), Nonso Anozie (Sweet Tooth, Artemis Fowl), Jessica Gunning (Baby Reindeer), Dustin Demri-Burns (All My Friends Hate Me), and Mark Heap (Friday Night Dinner, Can You Keep a Secret?). Oliver Chris, Jennifer Saunders, Lenny Henry, Michael Palin, and Simon Russell Beale are also playing key roles.

The movie has Tamara Birkemoe, Michael Cornelius, and Jacqueline De Croÿ as the executive producers. Simon Williams, Joe Simpson, Merrick Stoller, Andy Wang, and Matthew Chausse are also executive producers.

The Magic Faraway Tree releases in U.S. theaters on August 21, 2026.
