Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 Enlists the Last Person Fans Expected for Key Role

The Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 movie has received a surprise update regarding its production. The cinematic horror franchise, based on the hit video game series, kicked off three years ago.

It appears that the Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 movie has tapped David Robert Mitchell to write the screenplay, according to World of Reel. During an interview at the Sinister Creature Con, one of the stars of the upcoming installment, Skeet Ulrich, confirmed Robert Mitchell’s involvement in the film.

“We’re waiting on the third script to make the third film. The guy who wrote It Follows is writing it right now,” said Ulrich. Robert Mitchell is the same person who wrote and also directed 2014’s hit horror movie It Follows, featuring Maika Monroe. He is also known for making 2018’s thriller film Under the Silver Lake, starring Andrew Garfield.

Speaking of the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie franchise, the first two entries were written by Scott Cawthon. Emma Tammi was the director of both installments. While the two movies were critically panned, they went on to become box office hits.

The first film, released in 2023, grossed approximately $297 million worldwide against a $20 million budget. Last year, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 came out, and it also made a solid impact, earning over $235 million worldwide against a budget of $51 million. The sequel featured some notable cast members such as Mckenna Grace, Megan Fox, and Josh Hutcherson, among others.

Two months back, the upcoming sequel also received another crucial update regarding its cast. It was revealed that Matthew Lillard will be back as William Afton alongside Ulrich as Henry. “We’re about to go do the third movie, and we’re in it together, and I’m going to kill him, I’m sure,” said Lillard during a media interaction.

Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 movie has yet to receive an official release date window.
