Corey Feldman released from hospital after mid-flight emergency

Corey Feldman has been discharged from the hospital following a mid-flight medical emergency. According to a statement his publicist gave Entertainment Weekly on Tuesday, June 16, Feldman is “doing much better and is now out of the hospital.” Doctors initially suspected that the Stand by Me actor’s pain was from pancreatitis or gallstones.

The publicist, however, said that the real cause was “a really bad case of food poisoning.” They said, “Having food poisoning on a plane was a nightmare, but Corey is very grateful for all of the love and well wishes!”

The License to Drive actor started feeling ill Monday night shortly after his flight left Chicago. Subsequently, a doctor on board stepped in to help. Earlier that day, Feldman teamed up with Jerry O’Connell and Wil Wheaton for Stand by Me Live to mark the 40th anniversary of Rob Reiner’s 1986 film. The group had performed in Indianapolis on June 13, then in Chicago on June 14.

Corey Feldman’s Instagram post said that both events saw “incredible turnouts.” Thanks to the response, he said that the trio will probably announce more Stand by Me Live dates soon. En route from Indianapolis to Chicago, the Gremlins voice actor also stopped in Gary, Indiana, to visit Michael Jackson’s hometown.

Fans quickly rallied with an outpouring of care and encouragement after the initial report. “Get well soon,” wrote a fan. “Hope you are ok Corey prayers to you as you recover,” echoed another. “Praying for you Corey! Goonies never say die!!!” commented an admirer.

As he gets back to health, Corey Feldman is gearing up for the June 22 drop of his new single, “What Am I Here 4.” He’s also set for back-to-back Southern California performances on July 25 and 26.
