Netflix subscribers have only a short time left to catch the movie Going in Style before it exits the platform. Starring Morgan Freeman, the crime comedy is about three retirees who take drastic action after finding themselves in a financial crisis.

Going in Style is leaving Netflix soon

An overlooked crime comedy, Going in Style, is scheduled to leave Netflix next month. According to What’s on Netflix, the film will be removed from the platform on July 1, 2026.

Directed by Zach Braff from a screenplay by Theodore Melfi, Going in Style was released in 2017 as a remake of the 1979 comedy of the same name. The story centers on three lifelong friends who discover that retirement is far less secure than they expected. After spending decades in the workforce, Joe Harding, Willie Davis, and Albert Garner find themselves facing serious financial difficulties when their pension funds are jeopardized.

As their personal situations worsen, each man is forced to confront a different challenge, from increasing bills to pressing medical concerns. Frustrated by the circumstances, the trio devises a desperate plan to rob the bank connected to the loss of their pension funds. However, none of them has any experience committing crimes.

The film’s cast is led by Michael Caine as Joe Harding, Freeman as Willie Davis, and Alan Arkin as Albert Garner. Supporting roles include Ann-Margret as Annie Santori, John Ortiz as Jesús Garcia, Peter Serafinowicz as Peter Murphy, and more.

Upon release, Going in Style received mixed reviews from critics. The film currently holds a 47 percent score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes based on 170 reviews. Meanwhile, its audience rating stands at 58 percent. Nick Reilly of Metro reported, “Going In Style is far from the cynical exercise that it could have been and instead proves to be a gentle comedy with an unexpectedly relevant voice.”
