The Dog Stars Trailer Previews Ridley Scott’s Apocalyptic Thriller Movie With Jacob Elordi

A new trailer for The Dog Stars has been released. The movie, which is directed by Ridley Scott, stars Frankenstein and Euphoria’s Jacob Elordi. It arrives in United States theaters this August.

The Dog Stars comes from 20th Century Studios. In addition to Elordi, the post-apocalyptic thriller movie also stars Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Allison Janney, Benedict Wong, and Guy Pearce. It is based on a novel written by Peter Heller that was published in 2012.

What do we see in The Dog Stars trailer?

The synopsis reads, “The film tells the story of Hig (Jacob Elordi), a young pilot who, together with a military survivalist, Bangley (Josh Brolin), has carved out an efficient but isolated homestead in a brutal post-apocalyptic world. But when Hig receives a mysterious radio transmission, he ventures into the unknown in search of the hope and humanity he still believes exist.

Scott produces The Dog Stars alongside Michael Pruss, Mark L. Smith, and Cliff Roberts. Lily Brooks-Dalton, Brandon Scott Smith, Heller, and Aidan Elliott serve as executive producers.

A description of Heller’s novel further explains of the plot, “Hig’s wife is gone, his friends are dead, and he lives in the hangar of a small abandoned airport with his dog, Jasper, and a mercurial, gun-toting misanthrope named Bangley. But when a random transmission beams through the radio of his 1956 Cessna, the voice ignites a hope deep inside him that a better life exists outside their tightly controlled perimeter. Risking everything, he flies past his point of no return and follows its static-broken trail, only to find something that is both better and worse than anything he could ever hope for.”

The Dog Stars will be released exclusively in theaters on August 28, 2026.
