Henry Cavill’s First Netflix Movie After The Witcher Exit Arrives Soon
Netflix will add a highly anticipated sequel in a crime drama franchise featuring Henry Cavill next month. Starring alongside Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown, Cavill portrays an iconic Victorian-era fictional detective. The film marks his return to Netflix after he stepped away from his role in The Witcher series.
Enola Holmes 3 releases on Netflix next month
Enola Holmes 3 will debut on Netflix on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The streamer announced the release date with an official teaser last month.
It will focus on the titular character, who is in Malta, preparing to marry Lord Tewkesbury. But her plans soon go awry when Dr. John Watson informs her that her brother, Sherlock Holmes, was kidnapped. Enola embarks on a mission to save her brother while uncovering deeper conspiracies involving an unknown enemy.
The films are based on Nancy Springer’s detective book series, The Enola Holmes Mysteries. She published the first book, The Case of the Missing Marquess, in 2006. Since then, there have been nine more entries in the series.
While the original film was loosely based on the first book, the sequel drew inspiration from the 1888 real-life incident known as the Matchgirls’ strike.
Now, Enola Holmes 3 is expected to incorporate elements from the third book, The Case of the Bizarre Bouquets. However, the trailer already suggests it might not be a completely faithful adaptation and that it will make several changes to the source material. For example, the trailer shows Sherlock Holmes being kidnapped. But in the book it’s actually Dr. Watson who is kidnapped. Additionally, the books do not feature Enola and Tewkesbury’s wedding.
Philip Barantini helmed Enola Holmes 3 with a story by Jack Thorne. Millie Bobby Brown headlines the Netflix film as the titular character, and she is joined by Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, Himesh Patel as Dr. Watson, Louis Partridge as Tewkesbury, Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Moriarty, among others.
