The Invite Trailer: Bizarre Olivia Wilde & Seth Rogen A24 Movie Gets Even Weirder
The second trailer for The Invite is here, and things get even stranger. While the previous trailer gave viewers a glimpse of the events leading up to the film’s central story, this new footage highlights its eccentric and bizarre tone. Although the overall mystery remains, it still turns things up a notch this time, leaving viewers with more questions.
The synopsis for The Invite reads, “Joe and Angela are on thin ice, and tonight might be when it all falls apart. Unfortunately, their upstairs neighbors are about to arrive for dinner, and everything that can go wrong goes worse.”

What do we see in The Invite trailer?
The Invite trailer begins with Joe (Seth Rogen) asking Angela (Olivia Wilde) whether she had bought a new rug ahead of their neighbors’ visit. Immediately after, Pína (Penélope Cruz) and Hawk (Edward Norton) come over, and while Joe seems to be okay with Pína, his opinion of the latter is rather poor. Angela, however, finds both of them to be alright, especially taking a liking towards Pína.
Things begin to get weird as they all unwind over a few drinks, and the viewers soon find out that Pína and Hawk have come over with a specific activity in mind. And while there isn’t much clarity as to what the activity is, we get glimpses of them proposing it, and what follows is pure chaos. The Invite trailer ends on a comparatively mellow note, dragging viewers back to the awkward beginnings of their encounter, where Angela confesses that they aren’t used to having people over.
The Invite is directed by Olivia Wilde, who also features as one of the star cast, including Seth Rogen, Edward Norton, and Penélope Cruz. Notably, this is Wilde’s third feature film outing as director. Annapurna Pictures, FilmNation Entertainment, and Permut Presentations serve as the Production companies.
The Invite screened at the Eccles Theater during the 2026 Sundance Film Festival on January 24. Now, it is slated to release in select theaters on June 26 and across the United States on July 10.
