Fans got their first taste of the Backrooms parody through a short promotional clip. The teaser opens with the unsettling imagery that defines the internet phenomenon — endless, sickly yellow rooms stretching into nowhere. Just as the dread settles in, the franchise’s trademark absurdity crashes through the tension.
It is a simple but effective bait-and-switch, and it signals how Scary Movie 6 intends to mine recent horror blockbuster releases for laughs rather than sticking exclusively to the usual.

This is the first Scary Movie in 13 years, and more importantly, the first written by the Wayans family since 2001’s Scary Movie 2. Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory Wayans have returned to script duties alongside Craig Wayans and Rick Alvarez. Michael Tiddes directs.
The story brings Cindy Campbell and her circle back together as a masked killer from 26 years ago resurfaces. Anna Faris and Regina Hall are back, joined by returning cast members Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Dave Sheridan, Lochlyn Munro, and Anthony Anderson.
Scary Movie 6 is releasing on June 5, 2026.
