Supergirl Budget & Break-Even Point Revealed for DCU Movie
Supergirl will need to cross a crucial barrier to land a winning punch at the box office. Milly Alcock‘s DCU movie, also featuring Jason Momoa, is set to hit theaters this month.
What are the budget and break-even points for Supergirl?
The Supergirl movie has been making waves online ahead of its debut. While many fans are looking forward to seeing the film on the big screen, others may be wondering about its box office prospects.
Now it is revealed that Supergirl will need to make at least $315 million worldwide to turn profitable for Warner Bros., as per Deadline. The production budget for the film is reportedly $175 million, excluding advertising and other expenses.
Although the movie has not yet been released, it is expected to surpass its break-even point during its theatrical run. Last year’s Superman movie, helmed by James Gunn and featuring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, went on to earn $618.9 million globally.

However, the Supergirl movie has not generated the same level of anticipation as Superman. But it’s still expected to earn good word-of-mouth, make the necessary box office numbers, and become profitable.
The movie was originally announced by DCU heads James Gunn and Peter Safran back in early 2023. Besides Alcock in the titular role, the superhero flick also includes Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, Ferdinand Kingsley, and Diarmaid Murtagh in key roles.
Alcock’s first appearance in the DCU franchise was in Superman, where she appeared as Kara Zor-El during the closing moments of the movie. The ending also confirmed that Krypto was actually her dog. The adorable pup is going to have a very important role in Supergirl. Interestingly, it will also feature a cameo appearance from Kara’s biological cousin Kal-El/Superman, portrayed by Corenswet.
Supergirl is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
