1 of Mads Mikkelsen’s Best Movies Arrives on Netflix Today

The acclaimed black comedy-drama movie starring Cannes-winning actor Mads Mikkelsen has officially been added to Netflix‘s library. Following its critical success, the 2020 movie won an Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.

As of today, Mikkelsen’s Another Round movie is finally available to stream on Netflix. In the 2020 film, Mikkelsen played a high school history teacher who enters an alcohol experiment with his friends in hopes of overcoming the midlife crisis they’re experiencing. The ensemble cast also included Thomas Bo Larsen, Lars Ranthe, Magnus Millang, Maria Bonnevie, Susse Wold, and more. Since its debut, it has received positive reviews from critics. It currently holds a 93% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

“The film centers around four friends, all teachers at various stages of middle age, who are stuck in a rut,” reads the synopsis. “Unable to share their passions either at school or at home, they embark on an audacious experiment from an obscure philosopher: to see if a constant level of alcohol in their blood will help them find greater freedom and happiness. At first, they each find a newfound zest, but as the gang pushes their experiment further, issues that have been simmering for years come to a head, and the men are faced with a choice: reckon with their behavior or continue on the same course.”

Another Round was directed by Danish filmmaker Thomas Vinterberg, who co-wrote the screenplay with Tobias Lindholm. During his emotional speech at the 2021 Oscars, Vinterberg dedicated the film’s win to his late daughter, who died in a car accident just days after they started filming. The movie was produced by Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Kasper Dissing.
