Scarlett Johansson’s $1.1B Movie Becomes a Streaming Hit on Hulu

A 2016 superhero team-up film featuring Scarlett Johansson has seen a resurgence on Hulu this week. Although the film generally streams exclusively on Disney+, it arrived on Hulu this month and instantly became a streaming hit.

Captain America: Civil War is trending highly on Hulu

According to FlixPatrol’s report for June 2, 2026, Captain America: Civil War is #8 on Hulu’s Top 10 movies in the United States. The complete Captain America trilogy began streaming on Hulu at the beginning of this month, shortly after Civil War celebrated its 10th anniversary in May.

The Top 10 list is currently led by Sam Raimi’s 2026 horror, Send Help. It is followed by a French thriller, Psycho Killer at # 2, Dwayne Johnson’s Jumanji: The Next Level at #3, Nicolas Cage’s National Treasure at #4, and Glen Powell’s Twisters at #5.

Released on May 6, 2016, Captain America: Civil War kicked off Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The story centers on the Avengers’ fallout after their actions in Avengers: Age of Ultron forced the government to propose the Sokovia Accords, which place superheroes under government supervision.

While Captain America opposes the proposal, Iron Man supports it, calling for superhero accountability. Their disagreement leads the Avengers to split into two rival factions. Meanwhile, a man named Helmut Zemo tries to locate the Winter Soldier with sinister intentions.

Anthony Russo and Joe Russo directed the film with a story by the screenwriter duo, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. It features a star-studded cast that includes Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Sebastian Stan, Jeremy Renner, Chadwick Boseman, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Rudd. It also introduced Tom Holland’s Spider-Man in the MCU.

Upon release, Captain America: Civil War received unanimous praise from nearly everyone. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a critics’ approval rating of 90%, while users rated it 89%. At the global box office, it earned over $1.15 billion against a reported $250 million budget.
