Just 1 Odyssey Star Asked To Read Christopher Nolan’s Script Before Signing

Christopher Nolan‘s The Odyssey is one of the biggest projects of the year and features some of the biggest names in the industry. Out of the film’s star-studded cast, only one actor recalled asking to read the script before agreeing to join the epic. In a new interview, Robert Pattinson opened up about the incident and Christopher Nolan’s surprised reaction.

One actor in The Odyssey surprised Christopher Nolan with his request

Over the past years, Christopher Nolan has become one of the most successful directors in Hollywood. Following the success of Oppenheimer, the director is now working on The Odyssey, an adaptation of Homer’s epic poem.

The film features a star-studded cast. Matt Damon leads the ensemble as Odysseus, while Anne Hathaway plays his wife. Tom Holland plays the son of the king and queen of Ithaca.

Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, Zendaya, John Leguizamo, and Elliot Page also star in the film, alongside many others.

According to Pattinson, many actors were eager to join the project. However, the Batman star recalled being the only actor who asked to read the script before agreeing to the role.

The Batman actor spoke about this to GQ in a new interview with GQ. He recalled when Nolan called him about the role. Pattinson said his response left the Oppenheimer director surprised.

“I was like, ‘Yeah, can’t wait to read it.’ He’s like, ‘You want to read it? Everyone else just said yes,'” Pattinson recalled of his interaction with Nolan.

Of course, the actor signed on to the project soon afterward. He is set to play Antinous. In Homer’s original story, Antinous is one of the leading suitors seeking to marry Odysseus’ wife while the king is away.

The Odyssey releases in theaters on July 17, 2026.
