Superman Returns in Man of Tomorrow Set Photo, Confirms 1 Disappointing Detail

David Corenswet’s Superman just hit the Man of Tomorrow set, and one detail has fans divided. New set photos confirm whether the Man of Steel’s iconic suit gets an upgrade for the sequel.

David Corenswet’s Superman wears the same suit in Man of Tomorrow

David Corenswet’s Superman appears to wear the same suit from the 2025 film in Man of Tomorrow. Set photos from the ongoing production surfaced on X on June 2, 2026.

The images show Corenswet filming night scenes in what looks like the same costume he wore in James Gunn’s Superman.

This development lines up with earlier signs that the production would reuse the original suit. Back in October 2025, the Superman costume was removed from the Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood exhibit. A notice in its place read, “Superman costume currently being used by production.” At the time, the r/DCU_ subreddit first shared a picture of the exhibit with the notice displayed.

The decision to keep the same suit breaks a common trend in superhero sequels. Franchises like the MCU’s Spider-Man and Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy typically introduce updated costumes with each new installment. However, Gunn previously explained the extensive work that went into designing the original suit. He noted that David Corenswet helped shape the look, saying, “Superman wants kids to not be afraid of him.” Gunn added, “He dresses like a professional wrestler. He dresses in a way that makes people unafraid of him” (via Gizmodo)

The reuse also aligns with Gunn’s approach to keeping budgets manageable. Superhero costumes for major productions can cost around $50,000 each, as reported with Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man suits. Meanwhile, Gunn recently shared a first look at Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor in his comic-accurate green Warsuit on Instagram.

Superman teams up with Luthor against Brainiac, played by Lars Eidinger, in Man of Tomorrow. The film hits theaters on July 9, 2027.
