Toy Story 5: Taylor Swift’s Involvement With Pixar Sequel Movie Revealed

Taylor Swift’s involvement with Pixar and Disney’s Toy Story 5 has been revealed. It was previously teased that Swift had something to do with the upcoming sequel movie, but we now know how she’s contributing to the project.

Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios’ Toy Story 5 arrives in United States theaters this month. The fifth film in the main Toy Story franchise (sixth if including 2022’s Lightyear), the film is being directed by Andrew Stanton and will once again see Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack reprise their respective vocal roles as Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jessie.

How is Taylor Swift involved with Toy Story 5?

Following multiple teases that Taylor Swift would somehow be involved with Toy Story 5, it’s now been announced that the iconic pop star has created a brand-new original song, titled “I Knew It, I Knew You” for the film. Ahead of Toy Story 5’s release, the song — written and produced by Swift and Jack Antonoff — will be released wherever music is streamed and purchased on Friday, June 5. Stanton said in a statement, “It’s incredible just how meaningful it’s been having Taylor write and perform this song. Her connection to Jessie and the immediate way she understood what the character was going through was undeniable. The song is so deeply connected to ‘Toy Story.’ So much so that on first listen, it instantly felt like it had always belonged there, like a long-lost family member. It was kismet.”

The synopsis for Toy Story 5 reads, “The toys are back in Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5, and this time it’s Toy meets Tech. Woody (voice of Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (voice of Tim Allen), Jessie (voice of Joan Cusack) and the rest of the gang’s jobs are challenged when they come face-to-face with Lilypad (voice of Greta Lee), a brand-new tablet device that arrives with her own disruptive ideas about what is best for their kid, Bonnie. Will playtime ever be the same?”

Toy Story 5 will be released on June 19, 2026.
