Disclosure Day Could Succeed Where Oppenheimer Fell Short for Emily Blunt
Emily Blunt’s performance in the upcoming Disclosure Day has earned massive praise. With early buzz so big, the role could earn her the one thing she’s yet to achieve.
Disclosure Day’s is set for release on June 12, 2026, and it features a massive cast led by Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Colman Domingo, Eve Hewson, and more. Based on a story by Spielberg, the script for Disclosure Day was written by David Koepp, who previously worked with the Jaws director on films such as Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Early reviews of the movie have all praised Blunt’s performance. The star is no stranger to big roles, but with Disclosure Day getting some massive early buzz, it could mean she’ll be in line for another chance at an Oscar.
Disclosure Day could be Oscar contender that gets Emily Blunt an award
While Disclosure Day isn’t out just yet, the movie is looking like it will be one of 2026’s biggest films. That doesn’t always translate to awards buzz, but a legendary director like Steven Spielberg’s films usually included in these conversations. His last two films, West Side Story and The Fabelmans, both earned seven Oscar nominations each, and both received nominations in the acting categories.
No official reviews have come in just yet, but early social media reactions suggest that Blunt could be in line for the Best Supporting Actress category given her role in the film. Most all of the major buzz around the movie in the acting department point to Blunt, with many calling her performance an all-time high mark for the actress.
Sci-fi genre films have been nominated for awards in the past, but often have a hard time winning. Blunt herself has also been nominated for Best Supporting Actress before (in 2024 for Oppenheimer) but didn’t get the win. However, Disclosure Day presents a perfect storm of opportunity. Not only is it a major blockbuster from a legendary director, but it’s another chance for Blunt to shine in a major movie, and it seems she has.
