Tommy Lee Jones & Matthew Fox’s WWII Movie Now Streaming for Free
One of Tommy Lee Jones‘ lowest-rated movies is now officially streaming for free. In the war drama film Emperor, the Academy Award winner plays the commanding role of General Douglas MacArthur, who enlisted one of his subordinates to help him decide the fate of the Japanese Emperor.
“As the Japanese surrender at the end of World War II, General Fellers is tasked with deciding if Emperor Hirohito will be hanged as a war criminal,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “Influencing his ruling is his quest to find Aya, an exchange student he met years earlier in the U.S.”

Moviegoers can now stream Jones’ Emperor movie for free on the official Lionsgate Movies YouTube channel. Following its debut, the 2012 film received negative reviews from critics, who gave an approval rating of 31% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 88 reviews. Meanwhile, its Popcornmeter score is slightly higher at 46%.
The American-Japanese movie was directed by Peter Webber, with Vera Blasi and David Klass writing the screenplay. The movie also starred Matthew Fox as Bonner Fellers, Eriko Hatsune as Aya Shimada, Masayoshi Haneda as Takahashi, Masatoshi Nakamura as Prince Konoe, Takatarō Kataoka as Emperor Hirohito, Isao Natsuyagi as Teizaburō Sekiya, and more.
The historical drama film was based on Shiro Okamoto’s His Majesty’s Salvation novel. It was produced by Gary Foster, Russ Krasnoff, Yôko Narahashi, and Eugene Nomura.
