Robert Pattinson Tries to Catch a Predator in Primetime Teaser Trailer

A24 has released the first Primetime teaser trailer starring Robert Pattinson. In it, Pattinson takes on the role of Dateline NBC host Chris Hansen and promises to usher in a new era of TV.

Primetime is set to release sometime in the fall. The movie is shrouded mostly in mystery, with the logline for the movie simply reading, “In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history.”

What happens in the Primetime teaser trailer?

The Primetime trailer doesn’t really give us any huge information on the upcoming movie. The trailer shows four separate TV screens all broadcasting various bits of what look to be different home footage broadcasts. Over the top of the footage, Pattinson’s voice can be heard talking to someone in the style of Chris Hansen, telling someone they must be held accountable for the decisions they make before introducing himself as Hansen for Dateline NBC.

The project is inspired by the early 2000s program Dateline NBC, which Hansen hosted and quickly rose to extreme popularity.

Alongside Pattinson, Primetime also stars Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and musical artist Phoebe Bridgers. The movie is directed by Lane Oppenheim in his feature film debut. Previously, Oppenheim had directed a handful of documentary features, including 2024’s Spermworld, as well as the hit HBO documentary series Ren Faire.

For Pattinson, the movie will be yet another in a big 2026 for him. Pattinson has already starred in a hit A24 film this year, The Drama, alongside Zendaya. He’s also set to star in the Fernando Meirelles heist movie Here Comes the Flood alongside Denzel Washington, Daisy Edgar-Jones, and Danai Gurira, and will also star in Dune: Part Three, which is set to release toward the end of the year.
