Bad Bunny Joins Toy Story 5 in Surprise Casting Role
Bad Bunny is stepping into Pixar’s Toy Story universe with a brand-new animated character. The music superstar will voice a quirky character in the upcoming Toy Story 5 movie. Pixar officially revealed the casting this week, giving fans an early look at one of the franchise’s newest toys. The singer’s role adds another big name to the long-running animated series as Woody, Buzz, and the gang return for another adventure on the big screen.
Bad Bunny cast as Pizza with Sunglasses in Toy Story 5
Bad Bunny will voice a toy called Pizza with Sunglasses, also known as Pizza con Gafas, in Toy Story 5. Pixar introduced the character on Instagram, writing, “¡Vamos! @badbunnypr is Pizza with Sunglasses in #ToyStory5.” According to details shared by the studio, the cool and mysterious toy lives among a group of forgotten toys hidden away inside an abandoned backyard shed.
This marks Benito’s first major voice role in a blockbuster animated movie. The casting also fits naturally with his longtime love for the franchise. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Grammy-winning artist shared videos of himself playing with Toy Story characters like Woody and Rex. Outside of film, Bad Bunny remains one of the biggest names in music, known for hits including Tití Me Preguntó, Moscow Mule, and Debí Tirar Más Fotos, which won a Grammy earlier this year.
The new movie continues the story after Toy Story 4. In that film, Woody left with Bo Peep while Buzz, Jessie, and the others stayed behind with Bonnie. This time, the toys face a modern threat as electronics begin pulling children away from traditional playtime. The main conflict reportedly centers around a smart tablet named Lilypad. Woody and Buzz reunite to handle the situation and protect the toys’ connection with Bonnie.
The Toy Story franchise remains one of Pixar’s most successful series ever. The original Toy Story still holds a 100% critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes, while later films in the series have also earned strong ratings from critics and audiences. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen are expected to return as Woody and Buzz. The film releases in theaters on June 19.
