Dwayne Johnson’s $428 Million Video Game Movie Arrives on HBO Max Today
HBO Max is expanding its library with Dwayne Johnson‘s 2018 video game-inspired action movie. During its theatrical run, the film grossed around $428 million at the box office, making it one of the highest-grossing films starring Johnson in a lead role.

Beginning today, 2018’s sci-fi action thriller Rampage is finally available to stream on HBO Max. In the movie, Johnson portrayed a former special forces soldier and primatologist who must find a way to save the world from mutated giant animals. The movie received a divisive reception from critics and audiences. It currently holds a 51% approval rating and a Popcornmeter score of 71% on Rotten Tomatoes.
“Primatologist Davis Okoye shares an unshakable bond with George, an extraordinarily intelligent silverback gorilla that’s been in his care since birth. When a rogue genetic experiment goes wrong, it causes George, a wolf and a reptile, to grow to a monstrous size. The ensemble cast also included Naomie Harris as Kate, Malin Akerman as Claire, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Harvey, Jake Lacy as Brett, Joe Manganiello as Burke, Jack Quaid as Connor, and more. The film was directed by Brad Peyton, with Ryan Engle, Carlton Cuse, Ryan J. Condal, and Adam Sztykiel writing the screenplay. It was loosely based on Midway Games’ monster video game series of the same name.
