Paddington 4 Gets Stunning News After Paddington in Peru’s Success

The Paddington franchise’s future is continuing to expand following the success of the previous installment, with new updates surrounding Paddington 4 now revealed. Major additions have been made behind the scenes as the next chapter moves further into development. The latest news comes months after the beloved family franchise officially confirmed plans for a fourth film earlier this year.

Paddington 4 bags writer, director in talks to return

The next chapter in the Paddington film franchise is continuing to move ahead as new creative updates surrounding Paddington 4 have now surfaced. According to Variety, Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated writer Armando Iannucci has joined the project to co-write the screenplay. Iannucci is widely recognized for his work on acclaimed comedy series, including Veep and The Thick of It.

The screenplay is also expected to be written alongside Simon Blackwell, another Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated writer who previously collaborated with Iannucci on several television projects. The pairing marks a major creative addition for the franchise as development on the fourth film continues.

On the directing side, Dougal Wilson is reportedly in discussions to return after helming Paddington in Peru. Wilson made his feature film debut with the third Paddington movie. Meanwhile, producer Rosie Alison is also set to continue her involvement with the franchise through Heyday Films.

The fourth installment follows the success of the previous entries in the series: Paddington, Paddington 2, and Paddington in Peru. Based on the iconic children’s books created by Michael Bond, the franchise has become both a commercial and critical success over the last decade.

The sequel was officially confirmed earlier this year during CinemaCon. Anna Marsh, CEO of StudioCanal and Chief Content Officer of Canal+, announced that the project was actively in development. At the time, Marsh revealed that “world-renowned comedy writers” had been brought onto the film, though no names were disclosed.
