Sofía Vergara’s $972M Blockbuster Is Dominating on Streaming

A 2024 animated film featuring the voice of Sofía Vergara has become a streaming success on Amazon Prime Video. The film is part of a popular franchise that has cumulatively grossed over $5.4 billion at the worldwide box office.

Despicable Me 4 continues to be a streaming hit on Prime Video

According to FlixPatrol’s data for May 25, 2026, Despicable Me 4 is currently the #2 film on Amazon Prime Video’s Top 10 Movies list. Notably, the streaming success goes beyond the film category, as it also ranks #4 on the Top 10 Overall list. 

Meanwhile, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War, starring John Krasinski, holds the #1 spot. It is followed by Mckenna Grace’s Regretting You at #3, Jack Kesy’s Bang at #4, Jason Statham’s Mechanic: Resurrection at #5, and Leonardo DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another at #6.

Despicable Me 4 is an animated film from Illumination and continues the wacky, hilarious adventures of Gru, a retired supervillain. The latest installment follows Gru as he enjoys family life with his wife, Lucy, their three adopted daughters, and their new baby, Gru Jr. Things take a dramatic turn when Gru’s old enemy, Maxime Le Mal, escapes prison and seeks revenge with plans to turn Gru Jr. into a cockroach hybrid.

Chris Renaud directed the film with a script from Mike White and Ken Daurio. Its voice cast features Sofía Vergara as Valentina, Steve Carell as Gru, Kristen Wiig as Lucy, Will Ferrell as Maxime, Joey King as Poppy, and Stephen Colbert as Perry, among others.

Despicable Me 4 debuted in theaters on July 3, 2024, and garnered mixed reviews from critics. The film currently holds an average approval rating of 56% on Rotten Tomatoes — the franchise’s lowest critics’ score. But the audience had a better reception, resulting in a higher score of 86%. On IMDb, over 80K users have voted it 6.2 out of 10.

Despite the mixed critical response, the film was a major commercial success. According to Box Office Mojo, it made roughly $972 million against a $100 million budget.
