Courteney Cox & David Harbour’s ‘Insane’ Thriller Gets Exciting Release Update

Courteney Cox and David Harbour‘s new thriller movie may be closer to release. It is inspired by a popular true crime documentary series, Evil Genius, by Barbara Schroeder and Trey Borzillieri. The movie also features Garret Dillahunt and Tom McCarthy, among others.

Courteney Cox will be seen in the Evil Genius movie, which she is also directing. In an interview with ScreenRant, one of her co-stars from the film, Danielle Macdonald, revealed that the film’s shooting is now complete. Which means a release date window might be announced soon by the makers.

Talking about her experience working on Evil Genius, Macdonald said, “It felt like I got to do something really different. Playing a real person, obviously, you always want to be considerate of that, but also there’s not a ton of footage to go off of, so that was interesting to try and find the balance between artistic and realistic.”

Speaking about working alongside Cox, she revealed, “Courteney was awesome, she knows exactly what she wants, she was ready to go. It was actually quite funny, which seems crazy, because obviously it’s such an insane story.”

Evil Genius’s production started in November 2025. The thriller also features Patricia Arquette, Michael Chernus, Gregory Alan Williams, Ryan Eggold, Owen Teague, and Harlow Jane in crucial roles.

Its story will focus on the infamous ‘pizza bomber’ case. The plot explores themes of deception, desperation, and the thin line between a victim and a villain. Evil Genius has August Night, Jason Bateman, Michael Costigan, and John Buderwitz, and Cox as the producers.

Speaking of Cox, she was recently seen in the box office hit Scream 7, earlier this year. The former Friends star reprised her role of Gale Weathers alongside other notable cast members, including Neve Campbell, Mckenna Grace, Isabel May, and Anna Camp.

Evil Genius is yet to receive an official release window.
