Well over two decades after its release, The Mummy, starring Brendan Fraser, continues to attract strong viewership on streaming platforms. The action-adventure film has recently climbed Peacock’s movie rankings in the United States, showing the film’s lasting popularity among audiences.

The Mummy performs well on Peacock movie charts

One of Brendan Fraser’s most beloved action movies is continuing its strong streaming run. The Mummy has secured a spot on Peacock’s Top 10 movie chart in the United States. According to FlixPatrol, the film ranked No. 8 on May 21, 2026, outperforming movies such as The Marsh King’s Daughter and Bridesmaids.

Written and directed by Stephen Sommers, the movie first arrived in theaters on May 7, 1999. Blending action, horror, and adventure, the film is set in 1920s Egypt and follows a dangerous expedition to the ancient city of Hamunaptra, where a long-buried evil is accidentally brought back to life.

The story follows Evelyn Carnahan, a British librarian with a deep interest in ancient history, who recruits adventurer Rick O’Connell to guide her to the lost city. Joined by Evelyn’s brother Jonathan, the group soon finds themselves caught in a deadly supernatural crisis after accidentally awakening Imhotep, a cursed Egyptian high priest buried alive centuries earlier. As chaos spreads, the trio must battle dark forces and uncover a way to stop the growing threat.

The film’s cast features Fraser as Rick O’Connell, Rachel Weisz as Evelyn Carnahan, John Hannah as Jonathan Carnahan, and Arnold Vosloo as Imhotep.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a 64 percent critics rating from 107 reviews. However, audiences have responded more positively with a 75 percent score. In his review for The Guardian, Peter Bradshaw wrote, “The Mummy is cheerful, good-natured and entertaining, and its cast did engagingly silly things like ride camels through the desert.”
