The official White House X account posted an image of Donald Trump styled as James Bond on Saturday. The post responded to DiscussingFilm’s announcement that auditions have officially begun for the next 007 actor. The image showed Trump in a tuxedo holding a silencer-fitted pistol in a black-and-white edit.
The words “Make America Great Again” appeared clearly down the side of the photo. The official 007 logo also featured at the bottom right corner of the image. The White House captioned the post with a simple eyes emoji and gained over 3 million views within a day.
Meanwhile, Amazon MGM Studios confirmed the search for the next James Bond is officially underway. “While we don’t plan to comment on specific details during the casting process, we’re excited to share more news with 007 fans as soon as the time is right,” the studio said in a statement. Nina Gold, known for casting The Force Awakens and Game of Thrones, serves as the casting director for the project.
The White House post follows a pattern of the Trump second-term communications team editing the president into popular franchises. Earlier this month, the account shared an image of Trump dressed as the Mandalorian with Grogu on Star Wars Day. A previous Star Wars-themed post featured Trump holding a red lightsaber.
Fans have speculated about Daniel Craig’s replacement since his departure announcement in 2019. Names floated for the role include Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, and Bridgerton star Rege-Jean Page. Page recently called the degree of speculation surrounding his potential casting “strange” and “not normal.”
There is no indication that Trump has any affiliation with the next Bond installment.
