According to Box Office Mojo, In the Grey opened with $3.005 million domestically after debuting in 2,018 theaters on May 15, 2026. The action thriller stars Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Eiza González under director Guy Ritchie. The movie earned $1.14 million on Friday and placed sixth at the domestic box office during opening weekend. Black Bear distributed the film with an R rating and a runtime of 98 minutes.
The film follows a covert team of operatives attempting to recover a stolen billion-dollar fortune from a ruthless despot. The release marked Ritchie’s first theatrical movie in two years after several streaming projects. The movie received mixed reviews from critics during its opening weekend. Rotten Tomatoes listed the film with a 46% critics score after release.
The opening result placed the film below several recent Guy Ritchie theatrical releases during its opening weekend. Meanwhile, Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre opened with $3.1 million domestically and later earned $6.5 million in North America.
Additionally, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare finished with $20 million domestically against a reported $60 million budget. Meanwhile, The Covenant grossed $17 million in North America against a reported $50 million budget.
Previously, Ritchie’s last major theatrical success was Wrath of Man, which grossed more than $100 million worldwide against a reported $40 million budget. More recently, his project Fountain of Youth debuted on Apple TV after a reported $180 million production cost.
Next, Ritchie is scheduled to release Wife & Dog later this year.
