New Saw 11 Update Will Ease Fans’ Wait for James Wan’s Horror Movie Reboot
Saw 11 just got a promising update that will have fans excited. The iconic horror franchise is making a return with its eleventh installment, with development coming along smoothly.
What is the latest Saw 11 update?
In an interview with Deadline, Helen Lee-Kim, President of International at Lionsgate, revealed that franchise creator James Wan is “in the trenches mapping out the future of the Saw universe.” The report goes on to reveal that Lee-Kim has yet to see a script for the film.
An eleventh movie in the franchise was first announced in 2023. Since then, the franchise found a new home at Blumhouse. Jason Blum revealed that the next film would heavily involve James Wan, the director of the original Saw. In an interview earlier this year, Wan said that the creative team wants to “hark back to the spirit of the original film” by focusing on a tense atmosphere.

The Saw franchise has collected over $1.1 billion at the box office, with its most recent entry, Saw X, also being its most critically acclaimed. While details on the plot are being kept under wraps, Wan did reveal that it would be “psychologically scarring”.
“Leigh and I both want to recapture the spirit of that first film and revisit Jigsaw’s philosophy, which is that he goes after people who don’t appreciate their lives,” wrote Wan on Letterboxd. “If you’re a scumbag, but you appreciate your life, he doesn’t see you as someone who’s wasting your life, so I want to go back to what we touched on in the first movie with regard to that.”
It’s unclear whether the franchise will completely reboot after Saw 11 or continue the narrative of the saga. The original Jigsaw killer, John Kramer, was killed off at the end of Saw 3. However, the franchise continued to include Tobin Bell’s character in various ways, including making its most recent entry a prequel that expanded on the character’s motivations.
Moreover, Saw 11 currently doesn’t have a release date.
