Seth Rogen says he became emotional during Cannes premiere of Tangles

Seth Rogen became emotional during the premiere of Tangles, his latest animated project. He co-produced it with his wife, Lauren Miller Rogen. The film premiered at Cannes on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

At an after-party at Lucia Cannes, Rogen, who also voices a character in the film, told PEOPLE that he “was crying a lot throughout the entire thing.”

“I’ve seen the movie, obviously, a lot of times,” the actor said. “But that was the first time I’ve seen it not on my laptop computer with Lauren sitting beside me in our living room.”

Directed by Leah Nelson, Tangles is based on Tangles: A Story about Alzheimer’s, My Mother and Me. It is the 2010 graphic memoir by Sarah Leavitt. Alongside Rogen, the voice cast includes Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Pamela Adlon, Beanie Feldstein, Sarah Silverman, Abbi Jacobson, Samira Wiley, Wanda Sykes, Adam Shapiro, and Bowen Yang.

Rogen further told People that seeing the “completely finished” version of the film, especially in a group setting, “was a lot more intense.” He was reportedly seen wiping away tears during the premiere.

“I’m just glad the movie is effective and works. We’ve been working on it for like 10 years,” he added. “To watch it with a big group of people is a very lovely feeling. And that it seems to have emotionally impacted them, it’s very nice.”

Tangles does not currently have an official theatrical release date.
